The British Society for Antimicrobial Chemotherapy (BSAC) is an inter-professional organization with over 40 years of experience and achievement in antibiotic education, research and leadership and is dedicated to saving lives through appropriate use and development of antibiotics now and in the future. BSAC publishes the Journal of Antimicrobial Chemotherapy http://jac.oxfordjournals.org, the leading international journal in its field, and leads Antibiotic Action, a UK led global initiative that seeks to ensure effective antibiotics are researched, discovered and developed for all who need them. The Society engages with a wide range of stakeholders to improve and promote understanding of antimicrobials, including peer organizations, parliamentarians, policy-makers, students and healthcare trainees, scientists, researchers and journalists.

 

German center for infection research

At the German Center for Infection Research (DZIF), about 500 researchers from 35 institutions throughout Germany jointly develop new approaches for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of infectious diseases. The aim of this nationwide collaboration between universities, hospitals and research institutions is to translate research results into clinical practice quickly and effectively. With this, the DZIF paves the way for developing new vaccines, diagnostic agents and drugs to treat infections. The DZIF is one of six German Centers for Health Research established by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research to combat the most common diseases. The aim of the Global Antibiotic Resistance Partnership (GARP) is to empower countries to tackle the issue of antibiotic resistance by establishing local, in-country policy analysis and policy development capacity related to antibiotic resistance. GARP began in 2009 in India, Kenya, South Africa, and Vietnam, expanding to Mozambique, Nepal, Tanzania, and Uganda in 2012 and to Bangladesh, Cambodia, Laos, Pakistan, Zambia, and Zimbabwe in 2016.

The Norwegian Institute of Public Health (NIPH) is a governmental institution placed under the Ministry of Health and Care Services.

We are an official national institution that serves as the technical reference source on public health matters for governmental authorities, the general public, health services, researchers, the judiciary, prosecuting authorities, political bodies and the media.

NIPH has been actively involved in international work and academic research linked to policies to combat AMR. We have led the work on a series of papers in The Lancet on access and sustainable effectiveness of antimicrobials, and have been used as external experts to work at WHO on development of the Global Action Plan and the development and stewardship framework. In addition we are academic leads on the work package on new business models within the Innovative Medicines Initiative (IMI) funded DRIVE AB project which is the joint European project on how we could boost innovation for new antimicrobials.
